Our Sourcing Philosophy

For over a century, our partner farms in Uji and Kagoshima have cultivated tea with methods refined across generations. We work directly with family farms, visiting each season to select the finest leaves. There are no intermediaries, no blending of unknown origins — just pure, single-origin matcha from growers we know by name.

Third-Party Testing

Every batch of eebecco matcha undergoes comprehensive third-party analysis at certified laboratories in Japan. We test for more than 200 potential contaminants, with full transparency on every result. Our commitment extends beyond regulatory compliance — it is a promise to you that every bowl is as safe as it is delicious.

Radiation Tested

Certified laboratory screening for cesium-134 and cesium-137. Every batch, every harvest.

Heavy Metal Free

Tested for lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury. Results well below EU and Japanese safety thresholds.

Freshness Guaranteed

Milled-to-order within 48 hours of shipment. Vacuum-sealed in nitrogen-flushed packaging.

Traceability Standards

Each tin of eebecco matcha carries a batch code that allows you to trace your specific package back to the harvest date, milling date, cultivation field, and testing certificate. This level of traceability is rare in the matcha industry, but we believe it is essential. When you know where your food comes from, you can taste the difference.

Harvest & Milling

We exclusively use first-harvest (ichibancha) leaves for our ceremonial grades. These young leaves, shaded for 25–30 days before harvest, contain the highest concentration of L-theanine and chlorophyll. After steaming and drying, the leaves (tencha) are slowly stone-ground on granite mills at a rate of just 30 grams per hour — slow enough to preserve color, flavor, and nutritional integrity.

Our Certifications

While we prioritize direct relationships and transparency over third-party certifications, our matcha meets or exceeds the following standards:

  • Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS) compliant
  • EU food safety regulations for imported tea
  • FDA-compliant processing facility
  • Kosher certified
